Kew Post Office Closure

12.53.25pm UTC (GMT +0000) Thu 20th Nov 2003

Kew Councillor, Serge Lourie, has called on Post Office Counters to explain why the only post office in Kew has closed down.

"A lot of local residents have contacted me as this is now the only post office in Kew after the closure of the two others. It is very inconvenient that people now have to take a bus into Richmond for services they should get locally."

Jenny Tonge MP, Vincent Cable MP and the Liberal Democrats have been campaigning against the closure of post offices and this just shows how right we were. The system is now less robust than it was when there were more branches and people, especially those with mobility problems, suffer.

I have contacted Post Office Counters and expect information about when the post office will open again. At the very least, there should be a sign explaining what is happening."
