New Lottery Grants12.46.26pm UTC (GMT +0000) Mon 13th Feb 2006 The Big Lottery fund made awards in January to Stanley Junior School to improve the stage and help the school hold drama workshops, including the Children's Shakespeare Company (£5,000) and Beating Bowel Cancer will receive £3,350 to build up a support network. MP Vincent Cable said that he was "delighted by the awards. I have been promoting the bower cancer charity through its 'loud tie day'. There is a growing recognition that many lives could be saved if there was more awareness of the disease and people were less embarrassed at seeking medical advice when there are symptoms". "As for Stanley, it is a very popular and successful school with a diverse intake and strong community links. It is excellent that they are getting national recognition".
