MP Attacks Council Delays over Carlisle Park

4.04.13pm UTC (GMT +0000) Tue 4th Jul 2006

MP Vincent Cable said that residents' complaints over the continued vandalism in Carlisle Park had their origins in a "pathetically slow and inefficient" response by the council over a period of three years: "I have had a somewhat bad tempered correspondence with the council over the empty flat above the cricket pavilion going back to September 2003. One excuse after another was advanced for not doing anything and now we are told that structural works and redecoration may be needed. Meantime a family could have been rehoused. I am pleased that at last, with the new council, there is a bit more urgency being shown. But it is a very sorry episode".
