Elderly Concerns over Chiropody Cuts11.07.11am UTC (GMT +0000) Tue 10th Oct 2006 Local elderly residents are expressing concern over cut backs in NHS chiropody services which have created a waiting list of 300 and a halving in the number of sessions a year from 6 to 3. They have asked Vincent Cable MP to make representations to the Primary Care Trust about the cuts. Vincent Cable said: "Help with foot care is one of those services which becomes increasingly important with age. I have had several elderly residents recently expressing concern that they cannot obtain at all, or at the same level of quality, the service which they expect. I have written to the Primary Care Trust to establish the fact and to understand whether there is a shortage of qualified podiatrists or whether there is a cash squeeze as in other parts of the NHS."
